ALEX KNOPES
Executive Director
Alex Knopes has been executive director of Doxa since 2015 after previously serving on Doxa’s board. He’s had the privilege of journeying with Doxa through several chapters of his life, first as a volunteer in high school, and continues to lead the organization forward. Before becoming executive director, Alex was the director of education at the World Trade Center Denver. He brings a faithful heart, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a growth-oriented mindset to Doxa. Alex stewards current structures and people into new growth; all in concert with the Holy Spirit. He’s seen, experienced, and continues to believe in the transformative power of serving through Christ, especially across cultures and in new environments. Doxa, in his eyes, is an excellent facilitator of this.
One of his favorite memories in Tijuana is a midnight New Year’s celebration with tacos de cabeza (cow head)!
ELIZABETH MARTINEZ SALGADO
Director of Operations
Elizabeth (Ely) Martinez Salgado is from Morelia, the capital of the Mexican state of Michoacán, but has lived in Tijuana for most of her life. She is the director of operations at Doxa, responsible for nurturing and guiding the Mexico staff. She is also a tutor in Doxa’s education program, where she enjoys teaching her students perseverance and helping to develop their unique talents. Ely cultivates a greater love for school in her students and aims to fosters a love of God in everyone she meets. Before joining Doxa, she volunteered for another non-profit for 10 years organizing workshops and children’s activities.
With a strong background in organization and administration, Ely is a fast learner who believes in aiming high. Her favorite part of working with Doxa is seeing kids’ faces light up when they accomplish something they once thought impossible. Apart from Doxa, she’s also the mother of 4 children.
SUA MAVETH AYALA ROSALES
Group and Family Coordinator
Sua Maveth Ayala Rosales began working with Doxa in 2026. She’s from the Mexican state of Veracruz and has lived in Tijuana for over 30 years. Sue helps to coordinates housebuilding operations for Doxa and supports volunteer groups. She appreciates working with Doxa because of the way the organization helps families get ahead in various areas.
ESMERALDA CAMACHO
Bookkeeper & Translator
Esmeralda Camacho was born and raised in Tijuana and has worked for Doxa since 2018. She is an accountant, bookkeeper, tutor, and translator, serving Doxa in many different ways. Esmeralda grew up watching Doxa’s work in Pedregal de Santa Julia and felt it a natural transition to develop a career with the organization. She’s been involved in many aspects of Doxa’s work, including house-building. Esmeralda finds the “transformative change” Doxa brings to her community to be “truly incredible” and is “immensely proud to work at an organization that has such a profound impact.” She also currently works as a buyer at a nearby factory.
JUAN SABINO COBIAN ESPINDOLA
Dance Teacher
Juan Sabino Espindola Hernandez began dancing in 2003 as part of a children's folkloric dance group at his elementary school, Primaria Ricardo Flores Magón. Two years later, he joined Ballet Folklórico Ixchel, where he’s been performing for over 15 years. Since 2016, he’s been working for Doxa, when he founded Grupo Yelitza with a group of students after he was inspired to share the richness of Mexican culture in a new way. Through this work, he’s seen firsthand the value of joyful, cultural education and the impact Doxa has in the community. His passion lies in helping children grow both artistically and personally through dance and cultural expression. Outside of Doxa, he enjoys traveling by car and discovering new places.
DIANA MARÍA PIÑA FIGUEROA
Education Administrator & Tutor
Diana María Piña Figueroa has been working for Doxa since 2024. She’s lived in Tijuana all her life and is now the director of Unidos por Siempre. She describes Doxa as always doing a good job of helping those most in need, and particularly loves helping children. One of her favorite sayings is, “whoever doesn’t live to serve isn’t good at living.”One of my favorite sayings is “whoever doesn’t live to serve, isn’t good at living.”
ERASMO (MEMO) PACHECO
House Builder
Memo Pacheco began working for Doxa as a house builder in 2026 and has lived in Tijuana for 29 years. Memo works on both construction and logistics at Doxa. He also works at the airport and previously worked as a mechanic and a consultant. He appreciates that Doxa is a non-profit organization that supports communities in Tijuana and shares common vision and values.
GIOVANA GUADALUPE PEREZ CARRANZA
Education Administrator & Tutor
Giovana Guadalupe Perez Carranza has been working for Doxa since 2020. She’s from the Mexican state of Nayarit and has lived in Tijuana since she was 4 years old. She serves as assistant director of education at Unidos por Siempre. Giovana offers her help and care to other people and has been able to grow both professionally and socially at Doxa. Before Doxa, she worked at a fabric store and in a factory. At home, she has three kids, two girls and one boy. She also loves Harry Potter and one day want to go to London and Universal Studios.
OLGA LIDIA CAMACHO NIEBLA
Cook
Olga Lidia Camacho Niebla is a cook at Unidos por Siempre. She is originally from the Mexican state of Sinaloa and began working at Doxa in 2025 after volunteering for over 20 years. She’s passionately served Doxa for many years through cooking, her favorite hobby. She feels like the organization offers a good opportunity to be part of a team and to serve other people. Before joining Doxa, she worked at a medical products company. Olga is also married and has three children.
LILIANA MARGARITA RODRIGUEZ GARCIA
Education Tutor
Liliana Margarita Rodriguez Garcia began working for Doxa in 2024 and has lived in Tijuana for 40 years. She does several things at Doxa, including tutoring and assisting students with sports, dance, and workshop activities. She enjoys guiding students in their schoolwork and being a regular emotional support in their daily lives. She aims to foster the values of respect, responsibility, loyalty, creativity, honesty, and resilience. Outside of Doxa, Liliana is a housewife and has 3 children, Mia, Dominick, and Nataly.
AILIN GARCIA FLORES
Education Tutor
Ailin Garcia Flores has been working for Doxa since 2024. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and now works as a tutor for 3rd and 4th grade students. I first knew about Doxa when I was in fourth grade, and although I didn’t attend regularly, I always received educational and financial support until high school. Her priority is for children to develop good spelling and reading comprehension, which is essential for any educational level and for everyday life. In addition to her role at Doxa, she works as a primary school teacher.
SERGIO JAIS SÁNCHEZ
Education Tutor
Sergio Jair Sánchez Sánchez has been working for Doxa since 2024. He’s lived in Tijuana for over 25 years and studies at the University of Tijuana with a degree in educational sciences. Now, he’s an education tutor at Doxa and a substitute middle school teacher. Sergio appreciates how Doxa helps the community in Tijuana and the opportunity for both personal and professional growth it offers him. In his free time, he enjoy fishkeeping, caring for plants, and playing video games.
Darío Cano Inclán
House Builder
Darío Cano Inclán began working for Doxa in 2026. He’s from the Mexican state of Veracruz and has lived in Tijuana for 13 years. Dario is a civil engineer specializing in general construction, boundary surveys, and topographical surveys.
Rubén (Flaco) Darío Cruz Inclán
House Builder
Flaco Darío Cruz Inclán began working for Doxa in 2026. He’s from the Mexican state of Veracruz and has lived in Tijuana for 11 years. Flaco is a builder and handyman who appreciate how the Doxa tam shares goals and objectives. He likes learning new things, and in his own words, “If I don’t know something, I learn it!”
FLAVIO CAMACHO
House Builder
Flavio Camacho was born in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, one of 12 children. He moved to Tijuana in 1989 and married his wife Rose Amelia in 1990, whom he credits for originally getting him involved with Doxa. Flavio studied airport administration and worked at the Tijuana airport for many years. He started spending more time working with Doxa in 2022.
